FILLING

When filling, a filler darker than the natural color of the floor is typically used to achieve a greater contrast between the wood and surface "imperfections."

Not only natural knots and cracks are filled, but if the wood contains few "imperfections," new cracks can be created by disrupting the surface with tools, further enhancing the rustic appearance of the entire floor.
